Crofton in Ngaio is accessible by a 15 minute train ride through five tunnels and bush on the Johnsonville line. Get off at Ngaio station.
Trains leave from Wellington station every half hour on the hour. You will reach 'Crofton' after a five to ten minute walk from the station. ​Alternatively drive, bus or taxi 10-15 minutes from the Wellington CBD.

Crofton was built for William and Sarah Fox as their country residence in 1857. Fox was New Zealand's second Premier, appointed in 1856.
